John Arbuckle Vice President, Crop Genetics Research & Development

John Arbuckle of DuPont Pioneer is vice president, Crop Genetics Research & Development (CGR&D), responsible for providing strategic direction for global product development and driving innovation to create new value for our customers.

Most recently, John served as senior research director for Global Marker and Research Information Technologies, where he managed the functional units that deliver production genotyping capabilities and genetic analysis information systems globally and for all crops. In addition to these responsibilities, John served as the Pioneer Research lead responsible for developing the strategic vision and supporting framework aligning Pioneer and Pannar Research for all crops and disciplines.

John first joined Pioneer in the Molecular Markers group in 1992. He held various positions in the Markers and Genomics groups, including principal investigator of a Discovery Research program aimed at developing new technologies for gene discovery and genetic analysis, ultimately resulting in a patent-protected Pioneer technology.

In 1999, John joined Syngenta to build its North America marker program. In 2004 he was awarded the Global Science and Technology Prize at Syngenta for development of molecular marker technology and unlocking genetic diversity in maize. Later that year John was appointed head of native traits to build and lead a multi-disciplinary science group charged with creating, characterizing, and deploying genetic information in plant breeding and trait development. In 2006, he and the team accepted Syngenta's Global Purpose Award for developing and deploying the Gene Compass technology in multiple crops.

John rejoined Pioneer in December 2008 as the research director for Global Marker Technologies, and accepted the appointment to lead Field Research Information Management in January 2012.

John earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Illinois State University.

Lane Arthur is vice president, Information Technology (IT), with responsibility for all DuPont Pioneer IT functions. He also has oversight for IT in several other DuPont businesses and functions, including Information Technology & Process (IT&P) for Integrated Operations, Corporate Information Protection, and DuPont Central Research & Development (CR&D). Lane is a member of the DuPont Pioneer Leadership Team and the DuPont Information Technology Senior Leadership Team.

Lane represents DuPont on the High Performance Computing Advisory Board for the Council on Competitiveness in Washington, D.C. He also serves as the Pioneer representative on the board of directors for United Way of Central Iowa and is a member of the Iowa Innovation Council Executive Committee.

Lane began his career at Pioneer in 1997 in the Information Management department. From 2000-2005, he served as manager of the Bioinformatics group. Prior to becoming Pioneer CIO, he led the DuPont Information and Computing Technology Group, with responsibility for all data management activities for the global DuPont Science & Technology organization. During his tenure, Lane’s responsibilities have included IT service delivery, computational biology research, software development and support, management of a high performance computing environment, and data center operations and site network infrastructure.

Originally from Warner Robins, Georgia, Lane received his Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from the University of Georgia. He holds Master of Science, Master of Philosophy, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in genetics and development from Columbia University.

Arun Baral Director, Strategic Alliances

Arun Baral is director, Strategic Alliances, managing ongoing strategic relationships with key alliances and responsible for the identification and negotiation of new, collaborative opportunities on behalf of DuPont Pioneer. In this role, Arun is a member of the Platform Management leadership team and the Enterprise Leadership Council.

Arun joined Pioneer in 1992 as a controller in Pioneer’s joint venture in Africa and since then, has held various roles of increasing responsibilities in Finance, Strategic Marketing and Business for Pioneer’s international business based out of Des Moines. Most recently, Arun was based out of Singapore and served as the regional director for Asia Pacific since 2009. In this role, Arun had profit and loss responsibility for all Pioneer business operations in Asia Pacific.

Arun earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting at Delhi University and his Master of Business Administration from Drake University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Arun is married and has one son.

Since joining Pioneer as Employee Relations manager in 1997, Christine has served in a number of leadership roles, most recently as director, Organizational Change Initiatives. Other roles have included: senior Human Resources leader for Asia, Europe and Africa; leader responsible for transformation of the global talent management function; and strategic Human Resources leader for the global production and research teams.

Experience prior to Pioneer, includes providing human resources support and strategic counsel in industries such as agricultural equipment manufacturing, consumer fulfillment, and insurance.

Christine earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications/public relations at the University of Northern Iowa, has a Human Resource-Related Law certification, and is designated as a Global Professional in Human Resources.

Chitenhe, Pamela Regional Director, Africa

Pamela Chitenhe Regional Director, Africa

Pamela Chitenhe joined DuPont Pioneer in 2011 as regional director for Africa. She is responsible for all business operations in Africa, a growing region key to world food security. This includes the South Africa, East & South Central Africa (ESCA), North Africa and Middle East Pioneer seed business units. Pamela leads the DuPont Pioneer Africa leadership team and is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Pamela is responsible for all the operations of Pannar Seed in Africa. She is the chairperson of the board of directors for the Pannar Seed business. She is also a member of Pioneer's Enterprise Leadership Council.

Pamela has 21 years of experience in agriculture and banking, 12 of which were at the executive director level in the areas of leadership and strategy, governance, credit and financial management. She also has held various financial and managerial roles with seed production companies in Zimbabwe.

Prior to joining DuPont Pioneer, Pamela worked for the Standard Bank group in South Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and a Masters in Business Administration from Thames Valley University in partnership with MilPark Business School. She is married and has one daughter.

Laurie Conslato is vice president of Finance for DuPont Pioneer.

Prior to her current role, Laurie served as Finance integration leader for the Pannar acquisition and as director for DuPont Investor Relations for the Agriculture and Nutrition and Health segments in Johnston, Iowa. She also held various financial leadership positions in the United States and internationally, including European Finance manager for DuPont Performance Coatings Refinish business in Germany, Global Finance manager for Tyvek® and Building Innovations, Global Cash manager in Treasury as well as leading the U.S. manufacturing facilities accounting for DuPont Titanium Technologies in Mississippi. She has been a DuPont employee since 1990.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University in Finance and an MBA from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is also a Six Sigma Black Belt.

Jerry Flint, Ph.D.Vice President, Biotech Affairs and Regulatory

Jerry Flint leads Biotech Affairs and Regulatory (BA&R) at DuPont Pioneer – a global, integrated team focused on delivering new plant biotechnology from the R&D pipeline to the commercial business, and ultimately, the hands of farmer customers.

In this role, Jerry directs global regulatory strategy, regulatory science, global policy and scientific affairs, stakeholder and community engagement, product registration and stewardship efforts. Under his leadership, Pioneer has achieved more efficient regulatory approvals for farmers in developed countries to grow and export biotech grain and is bringing biotech crop cultivation to farmers in new parts of the world.

Jerry represents Pioneer on the Crop Life International Plant Biotech Steering Committee, the Biotechnology Industry Organization Food and Agriculture Governing Board and the Council for Biotechnology Information Executive Committee. In 2013, he helped found GMO Answers, which is a new effort sponsored by DuPont, through its biotechnology industry association partners, to openly address consumer questions.

Jerry also is currently serving as the interim vice president of Agriculture Biotechnology, which encompasses all research strategy, discovery and development associated with new biotech products and processes at Pioneer. He is a member of the DuPont Pioneer Leadership Team and the DuPont Biotech Steering Team.

Throughout his 20-plus year career in the industry, Jerry has enjoyed the challenge of working with growers, scientists and those throughout agriculture to bring new technology to market. Jerry earned his Bachelor of Science in agriculture from Purdue University and his Master of Science and doctorate in crop science from the University of Kentucky.

Fuerer, Cornel B. Associate General Counsel

Cornel B. FuererAssociate General Counsel

Cornel B. Fuerer is associate general counsel for DuPont Pioneer. Cornel joined DuPont as an attorney in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1995.

From 1995 through 1999, Cornel served in a number of commercial law assignments, counseling several of the company’s business units in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 2000, he transferred to the DuPont Hong Kong offices. In this role, Cornel counseled several business units in the Asia Pacific region and represented the Legal function in South Korea and ASEAN. In 2004, he relocated to Wuppertal, Germany, and was appointed Legal manager, Germany, advising the DuPont Performance Coatings unit. From 2007 to 2012, Cornel relocated to St. Louis, Mo., to serve as the vice president, general counsel and company secretary of Solae, by then a joint venture between DuPont and Bunge. From 2012 to 2013, Cornel served as the corporate secretary of DuPont.

Cornel earned his law degree from the University of Geneva School of Law and holds a master's degree from the New York University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Switzerland and in New York.

Linda Gillespie is the Human Resources director for DuPont Pioneer. In her career with DuPont, she has also been the director of Human Resources for DuPont Canada.

Prior to DuPont, Ms. Gillespie was the Human Resources leader for global corporate functions at Nortel. There, she guided the organization through a period of significant changes by partnering with the business to drive organizational and talent strategies. She joined Nortel in 1996 and held an organizational development role in Singapore for Nortel’s Asia South Pacific region. After returning to Nortel in Canada, she held a number of marketing and business development roles, leading the strategy and marketing efforts for positioning Nortel solutions in the financial services and hospitality industries.

In addition to Singapore, Ms. Gillespie has lived and worked in Japan and England. Born in Ottawa, Canada, she graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce.

Tim leads the centralized Operations function, which integrates Production and Supply Chain to maximize efficiencies and optimize asset utilization to reliably deliver products and services to our customers. In addition to Production and Supply Chain, Integrated Operations brings together Business Improvement, Corporate Services, Engineering, Production, Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE), and Sourcing functions to drive execution effectiveness and efficiency across regions. Tim is also responsible for Commercial Effectiveness to drive global best practices locally in the disciplines of Communications, Marketing and Sales Effectiveness. He is a member of the DuPont Pioneer Enterprise Leadership Council.

Tim previously was regional director for Canada and Latin America regions from 2011 through 2014, and was director of Marketing and Sales Effectiveness for Pioneer in North America through 2011.

Tim joined Pioneer in 1991 and served in various marketing research and marketing management positions through 1997. He left Pioneer and rejoined the business in 2006.

Tim earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration from Santa Clara University.

Gutterson, Neal Vice President, Agricultural Biotechnology

 

Neal GuttersonVice President, Agricultural Biotechnology

Neal Gutterson, Ph.D., is vice president, Agricultural Biotechnology (ABT), DuPont Pioneer. In this capacity, Neal is responsible for the leadership of all ABT functions, the delivery of the Pioneer transgenic pipeline and the successful execution of the overall Pioneer Research strategy consistent with the needs of the commercial business and farmer customers globally.

Neal built his career through a series of progressively more senior research and development roles at biotechnology start-up companies, including Advanced Genetic Sciences and DNA Plant Technology Corporation. In 2002, he joined Mendel Biotechnology as vice president, Research & Development. Most recently, Neal served as president, chief executive officer and board member of Mendel Biotechnology.

Neal has an extensive history of professional memberships, and he currently sits on the CIMMYT Board of Trustees where he is program committee chair. He is also widely published in scientific journals and is a regular speaker at industry conferences.

Neal holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Yale University and a doctorate in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He has also attended the Stanford Business School Emerging Companies Executive Program. Neal is named inventor on more than 30 patents and pending patent applications.

As vice president and regional director - Latin America region, Roberto Hun is responsible for leading the businesses along with meeting financial and operational targets.

He joined DuPont in 1995 as new business opportunities development & planning consultant. Since then, Roberto has served in a variety of leadership roles throughout DuPont businesses, such as P&IP, Imaging & Electronics Technologies and Global Supply Chain.

He also spent about five years as the Finance vice president for DuPont in Latin America and most recently, in 2013, accepted an offer from DuPont Performance Polymers, where he stayed one year as the Latin America vice president and regional director, before joining Pioneer in March 2014.

Roberto is a business administrator from FEA/University of São Paulo, with an MBA degree from Oregon State University - USA. Before joining DuPont, Roberto worked for several banks including Citibank- Credit Card Operations, Ford Credit Operations, ABN Amro Bank and the Royal Bank of Canada in Montreal.

He works closely with leaders in finance, communications, commercial and research and development.

Tim joined DuPont Pioneer in 1994 after working for KPMG for four years. Before joining Investor Relations in 2012, he held a variety of leadership roles in Finance at DuPont Pioneer.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Iowa State University in 1989 and later, a master’s in business administration from The University of Iowa.

Alejandro Munoz is vice president, Global Commercial Business, which includes responsibility for all DuPont Pioneer commercial markets worldwide. He moved into this role in 2014 and is a member of the DuPont Pioneer Leadership Team.

Since joining the business in 1981, Alejandro has worked in a variety of geographies – including North America, Europe, Argentina, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. He previously served as vice president, Americas and Global Production; vice president and regional director for North America; and vice president, Europe Operations. He began his career as quality control manager in Latin America.

Alejandro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy from the University of Costa Rica. He completed specialization courses in finance and accounting at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Graduate School of Business and in marketing at the University of Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.

William S. Niebur, Ph.D.DuPont Vice President – DuPont Pioneer North Asia

William S. Niebur is DuPont vice president – DuPont Pioneer North Asia, with strategic oversight responsibility for China, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea and Taiwan, which are important markets for Pioneer’s presence in the Asia Pacific region.

Bill began his career at Pioneer in 1983 as a maize research station manager. In 1989, he was named European maize research director and spent nine years in France, Italy and Belgium. He returned to Iowa in 1997 to serve as global maize research director. He was named Pioneer vice president in 2002 and a DuPont vice president in 2005 with responsibility for advancing worldwide crop genetics research and development. He was named vice president and general manager of DuPont Pioneer China in 2010 and DuPont vice president – DuPont Pioneer North Asia in March 2013. He resides in Beijing, China.

Bill has extensive global experience in seed business leadership, plant genetics and biotechnology. In his previous roles, he was instrumental in integrating two new and proprietary technologies, gene shuffling and marker assisted selection, into DuPont plant genetics product development. He has been granted several patents that have led to the commercialization of more than 30 Pioneer® brand products.

Throughout his career in agriculture he has been actively engaged with public/private partnerships such as the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) and the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

Bill holds bachelor of science and master of science degrees from Iowa State University. He earned his doctorate in plant breeding and cytogenetics from the University of Minnesota.

As the Director of Safety and Risk Management for DuPont Pioneer, Jim has worldwide responsibility for safety, health and environment (SHE) and risk management, including risk financing, insurance, loss control & loss prevention, industrial hygiene and claims management (workers compensation, liability, etc.). He is a member of the Enterprise Leadership Council.

Jim began his career at Pioneer in 1988 with responsibility for risk financing and insurance, subsequently became Director of Healthcare & Risk Financing and then assumed the current role of Director of Safety and Risk Management.

Prior to joining Pioneer, Jim spent 15 years in the telecommunications industry with US West Inc. He received his Bachelor of Science and Education from Wayne State College, in Wayne, Neb.; and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska, in Lincoln, Neb.

Jim is the President of the Iowa Chapter of RIMS (Risk & Insurance Management Society). He also serves on the Board of Advisors to the University of Iowa College of Public Health,  the Board of Directors and Vice Chair for Farm Safety 4 Just Kids, as an Advisor to the Board of Directors for the Iowa/Illinois Safety Council as well as is involved in several other community organizations.

Reno, Steve Vice President, Regional Business Director - U.S. & Canada

Steve Reno Vice President, Regional Business Director - U.S. & Canada

Steve Reno is vice president and regional director – U.S. and Canada, leading the commercial business for Pioneer’s six business units and the functions of Marketing, Production, Supply Chain, Research, Finance and Administration. He serves on the Extended Leadership Committee, focused on activities in the one- to-ten-year time frame.

Prior to his current assignment, Steve was business director for the Western Business Unit. He began his career with DuPont Crop Protection in1992 and held sales positions in Iowa and California. In 1998 he became product manager for soybean herbicides, and in 1999 he was named U.S. product manager for DuPont corn herbicides. In 2001 Steve was appointed area sales manager for Pioneer in the Midwest Region. In 2006 Steve was named sales manager for Pioneer’s Western Market.

Steve was raised on a farm near Terril, Iowa. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Ag Business from Iowa State University.

Rowe, Jeff Regional Director, Europe

Since June 1, 2011, Jeff Rowe is Regional Director, DuPont Pioneer Europe and is responsible for leading business operations across Europe. He coordinates and leads the Pioneer Europe Management Team, including the business units as well as the functional areas of the business such as sales and marketing, supply chain, production, research, legal, communications, government affairs, human resources, finance and administration.

Prior to this, Jeff was named vice president, Biotech Affairs and Regulatory in 2008, with responsibility for Pioneer product stewardship; biotech and regulatory affairs; regulatory science and compliance; registration; government and industry relations; community investment; and sustainable agriculture and development.

Jeff started his career with Pioneer in 1995 in the Supply Management department. He also gained experience working in Research, Information Management and Regulatory. After completing law school, Jeff joined the Pioneer Legal department in 2001 and served as corporate counsel until 2008.

Jeff received his Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in agricultural economics and has completed the coursework toward a Master of Science degree in plant molecular biology, also at Iowa State University. Jeff earned his juris doctorate from Drake Law School.

A leader in the agriculture and plant science industry, Jeff serves on numerous agriculture and community boards, including the Global Harvest Initiative and the New Vision for Agriculture Project Board for the World Economic Forum.

Jeff is from a row crop and livestock farm in Illinois where his family has been farming for more than four generations.

Paul E. Schickler is president of DuPont Pioneer, the advanced seed genetics business of DuPont. In this role, which he has held since 2007, he has continued to expand Pioneer’s global business by remaining focused on innovation that improves local productivity and profitability of farmers in more than 90 countries. Since joining Pioneer in 1974, Schickler has served in a variety of finance and administrative leadership roles throughout the business, including vice president of International Operations from 1999 to 2007. He currently serves on the DuPont Committee on Agricultural Innovation and Productivity in the 21st Century and the DuPont Agriculture Decision Board, and he is a member of the DuPont Operating Team.

Schickler is a graduate of Drake University, where he received Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in business administration. He currently serves as Board Chair of both The Greater Des Moines Partnership and Grand View University. He is Vice-Chair of the STEM Food and Ag Council and also is a member of the Cultivation Corridor Board of Directors; The Chicago Council on Global Affairs Board of Directors; The Chicago Council’s Global Agricultural Development Initiative Advisory Group; and the Iowa Business Council. A strong contributor to the community, Schickler is an active supporter of United Way, The World Food Prize Foundation, Meals from the Heartland, and the Farm Journal Legacy Project.

KV Subbarao is regional director, South Asia Region, and has strategic oversight responsibility for the India, Pakistan, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam business units. Subbarao leads the DuPont Pioneer South Asia leadership team and is also a member of Pioneer's Enterprise Leadership Council.

Subbarao joined DuPont Pioneer in 2001 as production operations manager and was appointed as India country manager in 2004. He has over 20 years of agriculture industry experience and is also currently the president of the National Seed Association of India, which has 250 member companies.

Earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Master of Science degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding from Banaras Hindu University in India, Subbarao completed his Doctorate in Life Sciences from the University of Hyderabad in India. He also has a Graduate Diploma of Management, (Technology Management) from APESMA – Deakin University in in Australia.

As the Communications Director at DuPont Pioneer, Tracy leads the development and execution of high-impact integrated communications strategies that include thought leadership, branding, media relations, digital, employee communications, issues/crisis management and marketing communications.

Since starting her Pioneer career in 2001, Tracy has worked across many different functions at Pioneer and held key leadership roles to deliver world-class communications that provide quality information to stakeholders. Before assuming her current role in 2013, she held roles within the Pioneer commercial business with communications responsibilities for the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Prior to Pioneer, Tracy held leadership roles in public relations, marketing and brand management positions in the healthcare, real estate and publishing industries.

Tracy is a member of the Pioneer Enterprise Leadership Council and the DuPont Global Brand/Communications Leadership Council. She is a member of the Iowa Women’s Leadership Conference steering team for Central Iowa.

She's a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism/mass communication.

Wilson, Marv Director, Platform Management

Marv WilsonDirector, Platform Management

At DuPont Pioneer, Marv Wilson serves as the director of the Platform Management group. In this role, Marv leads teams to identify issues and risks and to develop risk mitigation strategies. Platform management delivers business-wide planning, portfolio valuation, program management, global governance, compliance execution and resource planning. The team also works to develop alliances with technology providers and oversees out licensing opportunities.

Marv joined Pioneer in 2003 as a senior marketing manager, Global Oilseeds, and then served as director of North America Marketing Operations. Prior to assuming his current role, Marv was the director of Agricultural Biotechnology (ABT) Business Operations where he oversaw ABT operational effectiveness.

Marv joined the Iowa Soybean Association in 1999 and previously served as Executive Vice President for the Iowa Soybean Promotion Board.

Marv holds Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees from Iowa State University.
