DuPont Pioneer Donates $100,000 to Improve Rural Safety

Funding Initiative for Rural Emergencies (FIRE) delivered emergency rescue equipment to communities in need

Chatham, ON, Dec. 18, 2013 - DuPont Pioneer has provided $100,000 in grants to rural emergency services across Canada in 2013. Since launching its Funding Initiative for Rural Emergencies (FIRE) program in July, 31 communities across Canada have received critical emergency rescue equipment and training through the DuPont Pioneer program.

“At DuPont Pioneer, safety is of the utmost importance for us and we wanted to help rural Canadians improve their safety as well,” says Ian Grant, president, DuPont Pioneer Canada. “Training and proper equipment is critical to the safety of the volunteer firefighters who serve so many of our communities.”

Throughout 2013, DuPont Pioneer worked with local fire departments and rescue services to determine areas of need. These funds were devoted to the purchase of necessities such as grain entrapment rescue equipment and training, air bottle containment refill stations among other emergency resources. Examples of projects F.I.R.E. contributed to this past year include:

  • Chesley and Area Fire Department, Rescue tool replacement
  • Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department, Training facility
  • Service des Incendies de St-Liboire, Extrication equipment and training

  • West Lincoln Fire and Emergency Services, Grain extrication tool

  • Strathroy-Caradoc Fire, Mount Brydges Station, Ventilation fan
  • Grenfell Fire Department, Fire suits
  • Hartney Fire Department, Equipment upgrade
