DuPont Pioneer Renews Popular Rural Safety Program

Funding Initiative for Rural Emergencies (F.I.R.E.) continues to provide critical new equipment and training

Chatham, ON., June 9, 2014 - DuPont Pioneer is inviting applications from rural rescue organizations across Canada for the Funding Initiative for Rural Emergencies (F.I.R.E.), now in its second year. The program - launched in 2013 - provides much-needed rescue equipment and training for rural fire departments and emergency services.

"Safety is a core value for DuPont Pioneer. Many of our employees and sales reps live and work in rural Canada, and they are also volunteer rescue workers," says Ian Grant, Business Director for DuPont Pioneer. "We are proud to support these brave men and women, and to give them the resources they need to be safer in their volunteer work."

Last year DuPont Pioneer launched the F.I.R.E. program and committed over $100,000 to 32 rural emergency departments across Canada. DuPont Pioneer funds assisted with the purchase of key equipment and training, ranging from grain bin rescue equipment, oxygen tank refill stations, ventilation fans and jaws of life rescue tools.

"We have heard from many of the departments that received funding last year, and they are more confident that they have better tools in place to respond to agriculture-related and rural emergencies thanks to this program. It's a win for everyone involved," Grant says.

Rural rescue organizations interested in applying for the program may contact their Pioneer sales representative, or email fireinvestment@pioneer.com.
