DuPont Pioneer launches third annual ‘Concours de rendement Pioneer'

Corn growers put their skills to the test

Chatham, ON May 13, 2013 – DuPont Pioneer is challenging all Quebec corn growers to grow their best crop for the 'Concours de rendement DuPont Pioneer Québec 2013'. Top corn growers can compete to win a trip for two to the Commodity Classic in San Antonio, Texas, February 27 – March 1, 2014.

The contest recognizes top grower achievements and helps identify innovative crop management practices used to produce the high yields. Growers can demonstrate their corn growing skills in the Concours de rendement Pioneer with the planting of a minimum of 12 units of Pioneer® brand corn seed and planting a side-by-side comparison with any two Pioneer brand corn products in the same field. Entry deadline is August 31, 2013. This year‟s challenge includes five corn maturity categories: 2500 CHU or less; 2550 to 2650 CHU; 2600 to 2750 CHU; 2800 to 2850 CHU and 2900 CHU and up.

Pioneer expects this year‟s contest to be bigger than 2012 where there was an overwhelming 547 participants from across Quebec. Growers are encouraged to beat the highest yield in 2012 which was 17,4 tonnes/ha. “The Concours de rendement Pioneer is an opportunity for growers to challenge their own crop production methods while enjoying some friendly competition. They push the limits, try new agronomic management practices to increase yields and maximize the genetic potential of their crops,” says Robert Lefebvre, area sales manager, DuPont Pioneer.

Pioneer continues to invest heavily in corn research and the Concours de rendement Pioneer is a great way to work in conjunction with growers to glean further knowledge of agronomic practices that increase corn yield. The data collected will be used by Pioneer agronomists and sales reps to help improve the yield per hectare in growers‟ fields.

To enter the Concours de rendement Pioneer, and get a full set of contest rules, growers can contact their local Pioneer sales representative.
