Dr. Gyula Kovács, director of operations, Pioneer Europe, leads the business operations across Europe. He coordinates and leads the Pioneer Europe Leadership Team, including the business units as well as the functional areas of the business including sales and marketing, supply, research and development, finance and administration.
He is a 20-year veteran of Pioneer with broad sales and marketing skills, strong general management experience, and exceptional cross-cultural skills. Gyula is also fluent in Hungarian, English and Russian.
Prior to his promotion to director of operations for Pioneer Europe in July 2007, Gyula was the Eastern Europe business unit director since 2002. Prior to that he was the country manager for Pioneer Operations in CIS, Poland and Czechia. Gyula also has eight years of experience as sales and marketing director in Hungary, and served as director of technical operations related to seed production and marketing. He established and managed Pioneer's Representation Office in Hungary, and was also responsible for the technical development, experimental trial activities, technologies, and seed supply of field crops both in Hungary and abroad. He began his career with Pioneer as a corn production agronomist in Hungary, Czechoslovakia and the USSR.
He earned his agricultural engineering degree (emphasis in agronomy), from the Agricultural University, Keszthely. Gyula earned his masters in business administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and his doctorate degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Gyula is married and has two children.
