Pioneer established a representative office in Russia in 1994 with corn, sunflower, and inoculant product lines. Our products are sold through a distributor network of three main distributors plus several small ones. Current activities center on increased field attention to farmers.

There are currently over 6 million hectares of sunflowers in Russia; 1.5 million of these hectares are planted with hybrids. Russia has a corn market reaching from very early at 70-75 day CRM (crop relative maturity) to late ones at 105 day CRM. Russia has a large number of different forms of agricultural enterprises in varying sizes - over 33,000 in 2004. In addition, there are approximately 260,000 private farmers.

Pioneer currently has 2 full-time employees in Russia working from home offices and plans to increase their number in the near future.
