This issue of Crop Insights discusses cell division inhibitor herbicides. Preemergence acid amide grass herbicides are the most notable members of this group. Cell division herbicides:
- Interfere with cell division and cell enlargement.
- Are absorbed by roots and shoots.
- Inhibit shoots, cause grasses to leaf-out below the soil surface or fail to unfurl, and cause crinkled leaves and/or a shortened mid-vein in broadleaves.
