High-Yield Production Practices for Corn

Improved hybrids and production practices are helping corn growers consistently increase yields. Since 2002, average US corn yields have increased by almost 3 bu/acre per year. Winning yields in the NCGA national corn yield contest have increased even more. This Crop Insights summarizes basic management practices employed by national contest winners from 2005 to 2008, and discusses how these practices can contribute to higher yields for all corn growers.
