Pioneer Hi-Bred Reinbeck Production Location Hosts 75th Anniversary Open House

Pioneer Invests in Production Location to Help Meet Increased Demand for its Products

REINBECK, Iowa, Sept. 18, 2009 – Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, celebrated the 75th anniversary of its Reinbeck production location today with an open house. The event was attended by employees and their families, local seed growers and customers, vendors and community representatives.

“The employees at the Pioneer Reinbeck production location are very proud of the value we provide our farmer customers and the quality jobs we bring to the community,” said Joe Davis, plant manager. “We’ve been making these contributions over the last 75 years and hope to continue long into the future.”

The Reinbeck production location employs 50 full-time employees, four part-time regular employees and up to 1,000 temporary employees throughout the year. The location produces, packages and ships hybrid seed corn to Pioneer sales professionals in portions of Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. It also exports seed to other Pioneer locations around the world.

The Reinbeck production location will harvest more than 850,000 units of corn grown on nearly 12,000 acres of land through local contract seed growers. In addition, the location will package and ship about 150,000 additional units of corn from other Pioneer production locations. Reinbeck is one of 19 Pioneer corn seed production locations in the United States.

Pioneer has invested more than $3 million in capital improvements in the Reinbeck production location over the last three years. The increased investment includes several new pieces of equipment.
