Pioneer Hi-Bred Hosts Open House at Princeton Research Center

Event included tour of expanded research facility and information on latest crop technologies

PRINCETON, Ind., Aug. 24, 2007 - Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, showcased its newly expanded Princeton Research Center and field plots at an open house today.

Area growers attended the morning session, which included walking tours of plots of Pioneer® brand hybrids and varieties, as well as presentations on crop management.

Pioneer also shared information about the latest crop technologies including Herculex® XTRA, which offers the broadest range of protection against above- and below-ground insects in corn. The program included updates about the Optimum™ GAT™ trait, which offers growers a new and better choice in glyphosate tolerance that helps maximize yield and productivity, improves crop safety and expands weed control options. The Optimum GAT trait allows multiple modes of action and also confers resistance to ALS herbicides.

Additionally, open house attendees had the opportunity to tour the recently expanded research facility. Additions to the research center are part of a global effort by DuPont to reinvest $100 million into its seed business.

"The Princeton facility plays a vital role in research being conducted between the central Corn Belt and the Mid-South," says Bob Guse, research scientist in Princeton. "Our roots in Princeton run deep, and we anticipate continuing our research activities here for years to come."

The program also focused on the company's research pipeline and continued investment in the Princeton area.

"Our pipeline is the richest in Pioneer history, and we are excited to show growers the new technology and research at this facility," says Guse.
