Photo: Daniel Glat

Daniel Glat, regional director, Latin America, Africa, and Asia Pacific, is a 22-year Pioneer veteran, with nearly 30 years of experience in the global seed industry. His experience with the business spans across sales, marketing, and management. He is responsible for all business operations in Latin America, Africa, and Asia Pacific, a region that has seen 10 years of consistent growth in financial results, corn volume and market share.

He started his career with the Pioneer business in Brazil as a sales representative, moved to regional sales manager positions in both the South and São Paulo state, and then worked as a marketing manager at Pioneer’s main office in Santa Cruz. Daniel was promoted to Brazil country manager in 1998, and assumed additional responsibilities when he was promoted to director, Latin America, in September 2005. He was promoted to his current position in early-2007.

Under his leadership, the Brazil team increased sales by $127 million in a seven year period. During the same period, his team increased PTOI by $54 million. Daniel has also been responsible for several special projects including the soybeans acquisition and entrance into the soybean market in Brazil, which has experienced six-fold growth in just the past two years. Other projects to note include business expansions in numerous markets, new product offerings, and ongoing improvements to Pioneer’s industry leading farmer access.

Daniel is a member of the Pioneer Operating Committee and in that role is responsible for regular review of operations, efficiency targets and financial results. He also is a member of the Pioneer Leadership Team, which is responsible for strategic alignment and effective communication across the organization, developing annual operational plans, monitoring execution against strategic direction and annual plan, reviewing talent and planning, and prioritizing the R&D portfolio.

Daniel earned his bachelor and masters of science degrees in agronomy and plant genetics from the University of Arizona. Prior to joining Pioneer, he was with Ciba Geigy seed division.

Outside of work, he has been involved in a social project Pioneer spearheads in Brazil for underprivileged kids with the soccer camp "escolinha de futebol.” As a volunteer, Daniel helped with practices and games. He also owns a farm in central Brazil where he plants corn and soy, and his wife is a flower producer in southern Brazil.
