Pollinating and crossing activities will last up to three weeks, primarily during the month of July. Plan to work at least 40 hours per week and weekends, with time-and-a-half pay for hours worked over 40.
Summer Crew positions will last about three months and include activities like leaf punching, thinning and weeding plants, taking plant and ear height measurements, and more. Plan to work 40 hours per week, with most weekends off.
The start and end dates vary based on weather, type of position and location.
Individuals interested in any of these positions must meet the following job requirements to obtain summer employment:
- Willingness to work 40 or more hours per week, including some weekends.
- Ability to work around corn, soybeans and other crops, pollens, and dust for long periods of time.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Willingness to work outdoors, rain or shine, in hot, wet and dry conditions.
- Must be self-motivated and possess a positive attitude.
