Paul Carter, Ph.D.

Paul earned his B.S. degree at North Dakota State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Minnesota and was Extension Agronomist and Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before joining DuPont Pioneer. His research experience includes impacts of frost and wind damage on crop recovery, seeding practices, crop rotations, and tillage systems. Paul is a Fellow in both the American Society of Agronomy and the Crop Science Society of America and received the Agronomic Industry Award from the American Society of Agronomy.

Andy Heggenstaller, Ph.D.

Andy coordinates on-farm research supporting the development of agronomic recommendations and next-generation decision support services for customers. Andy also works closely with the Pioneer EncircaSM business and analytics teams to integrate field research, models and software systems to deliver scalable, sustainable crop management decision support platforms. Andy’s primary areas of expertise include soil fertility and nitrogen management. Andy earned a B.S. degree in Agronomy from Penn State University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Agronomy from Iowa State University.

Mark Jeschke, Ph.D.

Mark earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Crop Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mark joined Pioneer in 2007 and currently serves as Agronomy Information Manager. His primary role is development and delivery of useful and timely agronomy information based on DuPont Pioneer and university agronomy research. Mark authors and edits many of the agronomy resources available in the DuPont Pioneer agronomy library and through the Pioneer® GrowingPoint® agronomy app. Mark also manages the product and agronomy field demonstration plots at the Johnston campus.

Mark is originally from northern Illinois and is actively involved in the family corn and soybean farm near Rock City, Ill.

Jeff Mathesius, M.S., MBA

Jeff is a native of Illinois and obtained his B.S. degree in Agronomy from Illinois State University, M.S. degree in Soil Fertility from the University of Illinois, and MBA from Iowa State University. He started with DuPont Pioneer in 2001 and has had various roles including Small Plot Research, Six Sigma Black Belt, Agronomy Sciences, and Field Agronomist. Jeff is currently a DuPont Pioneer Agronomy Research Manager.

Dan Poston, Ph.D.
Agronomy Research Manager

Dan holds a B.S. and M.S. from Clemson University and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. Dr. Poston grew up in the coastal plains of South Carolina. Most of his professional career has been spent as a soybean agronomist and weed scientist with Mississippi State University at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville, Miss. Dr. Poston coordinated soybean production and weed control research and assisted with regional and statewide Extension programming.

Dr. Poston joined DuPont Pioneer in 2008 as an Area Agronomist and transitioned to the Agronomy Research Manager role in 2010 supporting 13 southeastern states and now portions of Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico as well.

In the Agronomy Research Manager role, Dr. Poston coordinates agronomy research projects that generate information to support the DuPont Pioneer product line and customer information needs. Agronomy research projects employ on-farm trials conducted by Pioneer Agronomists as well as collaborative efforts with Land Grant Universities and other third Party Contractors. Dr. Poston is especially passionate about high-yield soybean production and the factors that drive high yields.

Kirk Reese, M.S.
Agronomy Research Manager

Columbus, Ohio

Kirk has been with DuPont Pioneer for 23 years in various capacities including Research Agronomist, Technical Information Manager and Technical Services Manager where he led research, product and agronomy teams from Illinois to the East Coast.

Kirk also served as an Account Manager from 2007-2009 where he managed a sales team in Northeast Ohio and is currently an Agronomy Research Manager where he is focused on crop management and product research for Eastern U.S.

Before joining Pioneer, Kirk was with OSU Cooperative Extension from 1988-1993 where he focused on weed control research and outreach. He holds a Master of Science, Weed Science and a B.S. in Agronomy, 1986, both from The Ohio State University.
