How DuPont Pioneer Assigns Numbers to Products
Corn Product Numbering System
As the portfolio of Pioneer® brand corn products continues to increase, DuPont Pioneer has developed a numbering system that enables growers to quickly identify specific attributes of a product — including its hybrid family, maturity and technology segment(s). The example below outlines what each component of the numbering system communicates.
How the System Works
All new corn products begin with the letter P. The revised naming system streamlines corn hybrid designations under a "platform," or hybrid family name. The base genetic line, and all conversions that include any technology segments, share a common number.
Identifying Technologies in the Product Name
If a hybrid contains no technology segments, the name is a five-digit number. If the hybrid contains one or more technologies, these are designated by specific letters.
