Facts

  • One of the most common sunflower pests. Egg laying occurs prior to bloom and eggs can be found under the head.
  • Latin name: Homoeosoma electellum.

Management

  • Avoid field margins when scouting.
  • Apply insecticide at flowering onset if 1-2 moths per 5 plants are present.
  • Spray when 30% of field shows first ray petals.
