Objectives
- Determine efficacy and corn yield performance of corn rootworm (CRW) management options in fields with moderate to high CRW pressure.
- Determine if additional CRW control measures may provide value with Optimum® AcreMax® 1 (AM1) integrated refuge products, in which 90% of seeds include Herculex® XTRA insect protection.

Results
- All CRW control treatments significantly reduced root pruning by CRW larvae compared to the nonprotected check.
- CRW management options provided similar protection from root damage caused by CRW larvae.
- All 3 CRW management options greatly increased yield relative to the nonprotected check.
- Yield was similar among CRW management options.
- The addition of a high-rate IST and in-furrow insecticide did not improve efficacy or yield performance with AM1 products under moderate CRW pressure.

AM1 - Optimum® AcreMax® 1 Insect Protection System with an integrated corn rootworm refuge solution includes HXX, LL, RR2. Optimum AcreMax 1 products contain the LibertyLink® gene and can be sprayed with Liberty® herbicide. The required corn borer refuge can be planted up to half a mile away.
