Product Naming System

How DuPont Pioneer Assigns Numbers to Products

Corn Product Numbering System

As the portfolio of Pioneer® brand corn products continues to increase, DuPont Pioneer has developed a numbering system that enables growers to quickly identify specific attributes of a product — including its hybrid family, maturity and technology segment(s). The example below outlines what each component of the numbering system communicates.

How the System Works
All new corn products begin with the letter P. The revised naming system streamlines corn hybrid designations under a "platform," or hybrid family name. The base genetic line, and all conversions that include any technology segments, share a common number.

Example - Corn product numbering system.

Identifying Technologies in the Product Name
If a hybrid contains no technology segments, the name is a five-digit number. If the hybrid contains one or more technologies, these are designated by specific letters.

BOLT   Glyphosate Tolerant   Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® Soybeans   LibertyLink®
DuPont™ STS®   Plenish®

Always follow stewardship practices in accordance with the Product Use Guide (PUG) or other product-specific stewardship requirements including grain marketing and pesticide label directions. Varieties with BOLT™ technology provide excellent plant-back flexibility for soybeans following application of SU (sulfonylurea) herbicides such as DuPont™ LeadOff® or DuPont™ Basis® Blend as a component of a burndown program or for double-crop soybeans following SU herbicides such as DuPont™ Finesse® applied to wheat the previous fall. DuPont™, LeadOff®, Basis® Blend and Finesse® are trademarks or registered trademarks of DuPont or its affiliates.

Always follow grain marketing, stewardship practices and pesticide label directions. Varieties with the Glyphosate Tolerant trait (including those designated by the letter “R” in the product number) contain genes that confer tolerance to glyphosate herbicides. Glyphosate herbicides will kill crops that are not tolerant to glyphosate.

Always follow grain marketing, stewardship practices and pesticide label directions. Varieties with the Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® (RR2Y) trait contain genes that confer tolerance to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides. Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides will kill crops that are not tolerant to glyphosate. Genuity®, Roundup® and Roundup Ready 2 Yield® are registered trademarks of Monsanto Technology LLC used under license. Individual results may vary, and performance may vary from location to location and from year to year. This result may not be an indicator of results you may obtain as local growing, soil and weather conditions may vary. Growers should evaluate data from multiple locations and years whenever possible.

It is a violation of national and international laws to move materials containing biotech traits across borders into jurisdictions where their import is not permitted. Growers should discuss these issues with their purchaser or grain handler to confirm the purchaser or handler's position on products being purchased. Varieties with the LibertyLink® gene (LL) are resistant to Liberty® herbicide.
Liberty®, LibertyLink® and the Water Droplet Design are trademarks of Bayer.

Varieties with the DuPont™ STS® gene (STS) are tolerant to certain SU (sulfonylurea) herbicides. This technology allows post-emergent applications of DuPont™ Synchrony® XP and DuPont™ Classic® herbicides without crop injury or stress (see herbicide product labels). NOTE: A soybean variety with a herbicide tolerant trait does not confer tolerance to all herbicides. Spraying herbicides not labeled for a specific soybean variety will result in severe plant injury or plant death. Always read and follow herbicide label directions and precautions for use.
DuPont™, STS®, Synchrony® XP and Classic® are trademarks or registered trademarks of DuPont or its affiliates.

P = Plenish® high oleic soybeans for contract production only. Plenish® high oleic soybeans have an enhanced oil profile and are produced and channeled under contract to specific grain markets. Growers should refer to the DuPont Pioneer Product Use Guide on www.pioneer.com/stewardship for more information.

Roundup Ready® alfalfa

Roundup Ready® is a registered trademark used under license from Monsanto Company.

Do not export Pioneer® brand alfalfa seed or crops containing Roundup Ready® alfalfa technology including hay or hay products, to China pending import approval. In addition, due to the unique cropping practices, do not plant this product in Imperial County, California.

Always Read and Follow Pesticide Label Directions. Alfalfa with the Roundup Ready® alfalfa technology provides crop safety for over-the-top applications of labeled glyphosate herbicides when applied according to label directions. Glyphosate agricultural herbicides will kill crops that are not tolerant to glyphosate. ACCIDENTAL APPLICATION OF INCOMPATIBLE HERBICIDES TO THIS VARIETY COULD RESULT IN TOTAL CROP LOSS.
