JOHNSTON. IOWA — Pioneer is giving soybean growers another way to protect yield potential from bushel-robbing pests and diseases, such as sudden death syndrome, soybean cyst nematode, and red crown rot. For the 2027 growing season, Victrato® seed treatment will be available as an enhancement to the LumiGEN® seed treatment package for Pioneer® brand soybean products.
Victrato seed treatment combines broad protection against key soybean nematodes and diseases with superior Pioneer genetics and the industry-leading LumiGEN seed treatment package. Plus, farmers get agronomic expertise to help position the right product on the right acre.
“Getting a soybean crop off to a strong start is about more than any one component. It’s about bringing together the right genetics, seed treatment and agronomic decisions for that acre,” said Bradley Van Kooten, U.S. marketing lead for seed treatments, Pioneer. “By adding Victrato to our LumiGEN seed treatment offering, growers get that complete package from Pioneer: proven genetics, leading protection against challenging in-season threats and a team that understands how to help maximize the potential of that seed.”
A strong soybean crop starts with early protection, the moment the seed goes into the ground. Victrato seed treatment provides protection against several of the most critical economic threats to soybeans, including soybean cyst nematode (SCN), sudden death syndrome (SDS) and red crown rot (RCR). No effective in-season curative treatments exist for SDS or RCR, making Victrato seed treatment an important preventive measure against yield loss from these diseases. Its active ingredient, TYMIRIUM® technology, provides protection against a broad-spectrum of pests as a Group 7 fungicide and N-3 nematicide.
Two years of field trial data across 70 replicated locations demonstrated a statistically significant advantage for Victrato seed treatment over ILEVO® HL in both early- and mid-season vigor, resulting in a statistically significant 1.5 bushel per acre yield advantage. The trials used the same base LumiGEN fungicide and insecticide seed treatment with both ILEVO HL and Victrato treatments. The performance benefits may be even more pronounced in fields where SCN, SDS or RCR are actively limiting yield potential.
Because every field carries a different risk profile, Pioneer works alongside growers to understand those challenges and build a plan that helps each soybean product reach maximum potential. Victrato seed treatment adds another valuable tool to that toolbox, helping growers protect the potential of Pioneer® brand Z-Series soybeans from the start.
“Pioneer brand Z-Series soybeans have helped growers unlock unprecedented levels of genetic gain, and we’re building on that foundation with protection from Victrato seed treatment,” said Christian Cloeter, U.S. soybean product marketing lead, Pioneer. “Victrato gives growers another way to protect the yield potential of those genetics from the start. When you combine an industry-leading soybean portfolio with enhanced i-season protection and the agronomic expertise of Pioneer, you’re giving growers a more complete package for every acre.”
